Right now, the international photography fair MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas is taking place in Milan, with the participation of Shift Gallery.
At booth D020, under the banner "Dissonance catcher," our colleagues are presenting paintings by Maria Katyanova and photographs by pop/off/art lab artist Polina Rukavichkina from the series "Melting Armour."
"Melting Armour" has been developing for over a year and a half through observations of the processes of growing up, self‑discovery, and the fragile identity of teenagers in the complex landscape of the city of Sortavala, layered with Polina's own memories. Shot with a flash, in the tradition of crime photography, the images begin to resemble evidence of an unnamed incident, while the subjects and signs of "Melting Armour" form disturbing, almost mystical rhymes.
Hurry to see it!
