Vitaly Pushnitsky became famous for the works in which classical painting and graphics are combined with photographic imagination. Working on periphery of academic tradition and documentation, the artist is keen to create an unbreakable alliance of classics and photography. In his new project Pushnitsky investigates the viewpoint itself, as it is the main subject of his art. Traditional perspective and composition of painting here is deliberately substituted for foreshortening and cropping, which are characteristic of photography. Pushnitsky invites the viewer to plunge into the new mythology of history, humanity and sexuality. However, the main hero of his narrative – man – is never present in the paintings. The man is the viewer, who creates his own imaginary world, according to his viewpoint and leaves his trace in culture.
