MoreThe Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts, together with the Moscow gallery pop/off/art, presents the first retrospective solo exhibition in the Urals of Arkady Petrov — one of the brightest and most unconventional representatives of the "seventies" generation, whose work celebrated and immortalized the aesthetics of Soviet mass culture while developing within the framework of Sots Art, the Russian version of Pop Art. The exhibition in the Grand Exhibition Hall of the Hermitage-Ural Center will feature 128 paintings and sculptures by the artist from his studio and private collections in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Voronezh, provided with the participation of the pop/off/art gallery, supplemented by a highly characteristic work from the collection of the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts ("Beauty with a Cat," 1984). The exhibition will introduce viewers to the creative biography of Arkady Petrov, starting from his early period in the 1970s ("Factory," 1971; "The Shift," 1971; "From the Face," 1971, etc.) and ending with the artist's recent works ("Color Mood," 2020; "Healing," 2020).

This book describes the journey of the artist Andrey Kuzkin, who searches for the traces of his ancestors in order to better understand himself. Kuzkin documents a personal experience of discovering a direct connection between generations. The artist finds it important to preserve what he has managed to uncover. On the one hand, this story is personal in nature and recounts a particular lineage, families, and people. However, the problem of searching for ancestors and establishing a connection with them is becoming typical for contemporary society and demonstrates human nature in its desire to know itself through immersion into the past of one's own lineage. The story told in this book is, to some extent, a continuation of Kuzkin's 2008 performance "Journey of the Wooden Suitcase." During that performance, the artist took a handmade wooden suitcase to the place to which he felt a soulful attachment. He walked with the suitcase from house to house, photographing it in the interiors of village huts together with their inhabitants, on the riverbank, in the forest. Later, the suitcase, along with the photographic story and an accompanying text, was shown in several exhibitions.

The catalog was published for the solo exhibition of Yuri Zlotnikov “Signal System” at the State Tretyakov Gallery. It ran from March 26 to July 14, 2024, and included about 70 works from the “Signal System” series and about 20 “Protosignals.” The majority of the works come from the artist’s family collection, with 9 graphic works from the Tretyakov Gallery collection.
More MoreThe catalog was released for Rostislav Lebedev’s exhibition "Rough cuts” which took place at MMOMA from November 9, 2023 to January 28, 2024. The name of the project referred to Lebedev’s artistic method. Unlike many authors who use subtle, hidden “montage” of ready-made images, he prefers the sharp dissonance of images, a sharp transition from one sign to another. It is precisely such “Rough cuts” that, according to the artist, are capable of carving new, fresh meanings from the simple fact of the meeting of two well-known images. More than 100 works by the author were presented in 9 halls, each of which was addressed to a specific artistic medium of Lebedev.
