As often in summer gallery represents a group exhibition.

In pop/off/art gallery such an exhibition is used to be thematic. So this time it’s devoted to the main work of the XXth century – Kazimir Malevich’s “Black Square”.

From the time of its creation “Black Square” couldn’t stop exciting artist’s minds. It stays not so much an icon of the previous century as a polemic work. And every artist believes his duty to enter into a dialog with it.

Most of the artists collaborating with Pop/off/art gallery represented their dedication to “Black Square” at the exhibition “Adventure of the Black Square” in Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) last year. But this exhibition in no way an attempt of it’s repetition, ‘light” Moscow version.

It is an independent project which poses a problem to show a reaction (from ironic to scientific) on the “Black Square” in our century in every aspects and techniques of art – painting, graphics, collage, object (in such materials like rubber and ceramics), installation, video, print.

Among the authors – famous Moscow and St. Petersburg artists (A. Garunov, D. Kawarga, O. Artushkov, M. Kastalskaya, O. Tatarincev, etc.), where Vagrich Bakhchanyan (one of the Soc-Art “fathers”) takes a particular place.
