Oleg Langs’ one-man show finishes the first year of pop/off/art gallery functioning in a new space… and starts the New Year! It is very significant for the gallery to start a new season with Lang, because his name is a symbol of new painting, of contemporary plastic art in the same sense the gallery understands it. And this point of view closely coincides with museum one – Russian museum collections contain about 200 (two hundred!) of his works. The main principles of Oleg Langs’ paintings are concerned with continuous renovation. Sometimes even famous professional art-historians, who know his creative manner, can’t keep up with his evolution, and prefer to limit themselves with previous, already passed periods of his work. He is an artist who always goes ahead, and does not stop in his evolution. “Lang can make any painting in his own original style, and one will always feel his individual manner, not repetition and self-citation”, - says famous art-historian Alexander Yakimovich. New Lang show, of course, will have extremely New Year’s mood – it contains positive, ironic works of different scales – from small to large. Besides, the exhibition is going to be interactive, as much as an art show can be. In the beginning of January some new works, created in 2007, will be added. And no doubt it will be New Lang again!
